Upper Limits Removes Bitcoin ATM Due to Rising Bitcoin Scams in Our Community

Dear valued customers and community members,

We are issuing an urgent warning regarding a significant increase in Bitcoin ATM scams within
our community. These scams typically involve a caller impersonating a federal agency
representative or gaining the victim's trust by using endearing terms like “Just call me son.”
This manipulative tactic is intended to make the transaction seem familial when questioned
by bank personnel. The scammers often stay on the phone with the victim throughout the
entire transaction process, which involves large sums ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
Unfortunately, these incidents have resulted in the loss of life savings for many vulnerable
individuals during these challenging economic times.

Upper Limits has identified and intervened in four such scams, primarily targeting individuals
unfamiliar with Bitcoin or modern technology. The scammers use QR codes that are texted to the victim to scan their Bitcoin wallet addresses into the ATM during the transaction.

In light of these alarming events, we have decided to remove our Bitcoin ATM to protect our
community. Bitcoin ATM companies typically lease space on a monthly basis to host these
machines. We urge other local businesses hosting Bitcoin ATMs to be vigilant and proactive in
preventing these scams.

● Spread the Word: Inform your friends, family, and community members about the
prevalent Bitcoin scams.

● Be Vigilant: Any business with a Bitcoin ATM should be aware of the high incidence of
scams associated with these machines and know how to spot potential scams.
